
Day-by-Day Itinerary
- Day 1: Nairobi to Old Moses Camp (3,300m)
Depart Nairobi for the 3 to 4-hour drive to Nanyuki. Transfer to the Sirimon Park Gate (2,650m) and begin a 3-hour hike (9 km) through montane forest and bamboo zones to Old Moses Camp for dinner and overnight.
- Day 2: Old Moses Camp to Shipton’s Camp (4,200m)
Trek uphill through the Ontulili River valley and cross the high-altitude moorland, passing giant lobelias. This 6 to 7-hour hike (14 km) ends at Shipton’s Camp directly beneath the main peaks of Batian and Nelion.
- Day 3: Shipton’s Camp to Mackinder’s Camp (4,300m) via Point Lenana (4,985m)
Begin your summit bid at 2:30 or 3:00 AM. Scramble up scree to reach Point Lenana by sunrise. After catching the spectacular views, descend 3 to 4 hours to Mackinder’s Camp in the Teleki Valley for a well-deserved rest.
- Day 4: Mackinder’s Camp to Met Station (3,050m)
A gentle 4-hour descent through the upper moorlands and the notorious “Vertical Bog” of Naro Moru leads into the dense heather and forest zones to the Met Station Camp for the night.
- Day 5: Met Station to Nairobi
After an early morning breakfast, enjoy a pleasant 2-hour walk down to the Naro Moru Park Gate (2,600m). Meet your transport for the drive back to Nairobi, arriving in the afternoon.
